Skunk exclusion is a very important process in skunk removal. This procedure could be executed prior to
or after you get rid of skunks. Skunk Exclusion represents the most practiced formula to prevent skunks from establishing a hideout
under your outbuilding, porch, home or deck.
Seal off skunk entrances about the perimeter of the construction requiring to be excluded,
this will include outbuildings, decks, crawlspace vents and in a few cases your resourcefulness will take care of the trouble.
For
crawlspace vents:
Lasting skunk proof vent coverings are installed to keep skunks from entering houses by lower crawlspace vents. Unfortunately in that respect not many factory-made fixes are available that I am aware of. Almost all repairs are made at the location.
Low decks:
Decks have exhibited to be attention-getting locations for skunks to live under. The deck could be excluded
with 1/4 inch hardware mesh. Dig up around the edge of the deck six to twelve inches in depth; introduce the hardware mesh in
an L shape, and then fill up the trench fastening the hardware mesh in place. Secure the top of the hardware mesh to the deck with
pan head screws or ring shank nails. Before completing last seal on the final entry point on a recently excluded structure, it is
advisable to ensure zero skunks are left below the excluded region. Whenever there are offspring skunks existing it is safest to delay
till they're capable to leave the den on their own with their mama skunk prior to attempting some exclusion methods. Seal up
the entryway to the skunks den once you're positive every last animal has left the from under the effected area. The stench of a doomed
skunk trapped in an exclusion area may stink for many months to come so don't seal off a skunk in the exclusion region perform the
skunk removal process first.
